Pretty impressive find. Unfortunately, our grandfather didn't keep very much but I did receive a pocket watch from him that is about 100 years old.

Nice find, but the presentation is set up to squeeze every possible click out of the viewer, and carries a lot of pounders and ad stops. It amazes me how a simple story with a few images is turned into something that forces the viewer to boost site clicks (and therefor revenue for the giant glom that owns the site).

Lot of old papers. Also, they were dazzled by the printed paper lining glued to the inside of the lid.

Reminds me of a story about a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker that turned up in a parking garage in a Southern US city a few years ago. The car had been stored there since 1951, known to no one except the owner until he died in his nineties. He had been paying storage all those years and never used the car. It came to light when the executor of his estate went through some bills.

In the trunk they found a suitcase containing a tropical weight suit, silk shirts, ties, a pair of Correspondent shoes, socks, jewelry, a pint of Cuban rum, and several thousand dollars in US and Cuban currency.

I'll bet the old boy had some stories to tell.
