For sale is this exceptional GW Doniger jacket in size 44, crafted from high-quality goatskin leather. This piece has been gently worn and still has plenty of life left. The jacket is constructed from vegetable-tanned Indian goatskin, closely mimicking the original goatskin used on Wartime Donigers. It features a NOS (New Old Stock) triple-marked Talon zipper, which operates flawlessly. There is a small sewn repair on the left wristlet, barely noticeable.

The jacket's measurements are as follows:

  • Armpit to armpit: 23.5"
  • Down the front along the wind flap: 23"
  • Across the shoulders: 19"
  • From the base of the collar to the bottom of the waistband: 25"
  • Sleeve from shoulder to wristlet end: 25"
Price: $450 plus shipping.

EDIT NOTE: Use Caution. This ad has been reported as a scam. PC

In an abundance of caution and for the record, I am writing this experience. While communicating with Aerolover and after we both agree the price of the A-2, I tried to pay via PayPal. PayPal refused to process payment several times. I was warned by PayPal that it might be a scam.

It is hard for me to share such information because I have been accused without basis as a scammer by an establish member here, so this could be a similar situation. I also have been scammed by establish members here who sadly still selling items. I have learned to ignore them due to my experience in this forum, who I began to follow when it opened but joined years later.

Sadly, after about 30 trades in this forum, it is hard for me to see who might be a scammer because there are still ways of unscrupulous posters to misrepresent their intentions. I must also write about my excellent trades with some members who I respect and value.

sorry, my internet is behaving oddly so I didn’t see the long explanation.

So it seems that post count minimum is only part of the solution.

Maybe PayPal G&S should be the norm?
There have been cases here and the VLJ forum where the sale was done by G&S. The buyer claimed he received an empty box, Paypal sided with him and the seller was left with no money and no jacket. Buying and selling here used to be only a small part of the forum and usually you knew (digitally) who you were dealing with. That's why F&F was and still is the norm.
Unfortunately the past 1-2 years there has been a huge surge of new members contributing nothing but items to sell. With a resulting explosion in scams and scammers.

How is this guy not banned yet?

This is the account that belonged to a guy named Kblake. It was fleshed out a while ago that his account was compromised.

I think kblake tried to regain control but must have lost it again, which means that the email account he registered with is compromised too.

Probably best this account just be banned at this point

Yeah unfortunately the 'buyer protection' services like PayPal G&S often protect the buyer at all costs and can screw over the seller.

With established members, we have to tread carefully. We have to balance the rights of the member whose account may have been hacked against the safety of our other members.

I could ban him right now, but where does that leave the actual owner of the account? There is another way we have to go about it, and that takes a bit of time.

I will make a note on his ad so that someone who doesn't read all of this will still be alerted.

No offense, especially since I haven’t been around here for too long, but this seems a bit much.

The account has posted numerous scams, the original owner has been given the account back, and has lost control of it again.

I appreciate the mod team here, I know it’s done voluntarily and all, and I enjoy the community here and have made a few transactions that went very well…

But…

Exposing your members to theft for the sake of someone’s post history and some internet points seems irresponsible to me. Does KBlake even have any interest in the account? I know he’s already made another handle.

If you share the information, it will be useful for me to know who accused you of fraud and who deceived you when buying here.

No, you haven't been here very long. Members who have been with us for a while know that most of what we do is "behind the scenes."

We have a process that not only protects the actual account holder, but also precludes posting by the probable scammer. I'm not going into details about the process, but I will tell you that it has been started.

Your comment that we are "Exposing your members to theft for the sake of someone’s post history . . . . " is off the mark. Once the process to return the account to the original holder has been started, no one can post on that account. So, none of our members are exposed to theft through that hacked account.

Thank you for your comments. Even though the three members of the moderation team working on this particular issue have almost 60 years of experience here, we are always open to suggestions as to how we can better do our jobs. PC
