I just posted a picture of this jacket in "What jacket are you wearing today" but as requested I started it's own thread. I just received this jacket from Good Wear and absolutely love it! John Chapman emailed me last week saying he had gone through some emails and came across one I had sent requesting a reproduction label. In his email he said he had just finished making this jacket and wanted to know if I was interested in it. He said the jacket was a test jacket as he had recently got his button hole machine running again and had made a few jackets to test it out. The specs he gave me were:
  1. Size 44
  2. Horween black Mustang horsehide
  3. cotton plaid lining
  4. Rayon sleeve with no inner cuffs
  5. vintage 1939 Talon slider
  6. vintage Talon chest zipper pull
  7. vintage WWII side buckles

I had just sold my size 42 Aero Original Hercules since it was a little too small on me with intention of buying a 44 but the dimensions on this looked perfect and the price was right! Anyway, The jacket is absolutely fantastic! Below are a few pictures. I'll try to put up a few more later.

Very curious about what @Carlos840 and others in the waiting list have to say about this

Fantastic jacket. Can we get more fit pics with the zipper closed? Smile! You got a great jacket

I can’t talk for the others but after over 3 1/2 years I’m at the point where I want the jacket I want and probably wouldn’t “settle” for something different just because it came available.
My point was that if you guys aren't getting replies to your emails and you are in the waiting list after having paid a deposit, seeing that he has time to look through emails of people who only asked for labels(Therefore no a client by any means) and offer them sample jackets would make me react like the following:

I've reached the point where mentions of Goodwear just make me angry, so i avoid the threads...

I'm not saying that you should settle with a jacket you don't want but rather that I find it so weird for him to ignore emails from people who have paid a deposit and are waiting but can find the time to go through emails and offer jackets for sale to people who aren't on your client list but only asking about labels. Surely if he has time to do that he could reply to you guys? What do I know anyway....

No offense to @cdallas since he got a great opportunity and took it but focusing on the whole situation. I just find it ridiculous.

Let's hope that the button hole machine doesn't die again, it would suck for GW to add another 20 years to the wait time. Or would it? Dun dun duuun!!! Either way, shame nobody ever managed to reverse engineer a button hole machine and make a new one. For like $500 or so. That's certainly help with the orders and it'd take what, only three deposits to cover for it? Damn shame. . .

The jacket is nice (reminds me a lot of that RRL). The rest of the story isn't.
