Despite the heavy demand for his jackets John has just completed the Doniger I ordered earlier in the summer. Its a size 42 and has an original Talon zip. I can't wait for it to arrive. Here are some pictures taken by John of the actual jacket.

Well I love everything about it, but especially the pointed collar...

Is it just the grain of the leather that gives it a slightly 'used' appearance? It doesn't have the 'brand spanking new' look I've seen on other jackets, which has always put me off buying a repro...

Yes there is something about this goatskin that is just vintage looking. I compared it with my original Doniger goatskin and the comparsion was shocking. It looked so much like the 60 year old original that it was scary.

The Doniger arrived today and wow it is even better than in the pictures. It is a true work of art. It is precisely how a new issued Doniger would have appeared in 1942! The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, just like on my better quality originals, but not impersonal as on many repros. This jacket can't be improved upon! It is a perfect fit too. I will take some pics of me weaing it at the weekend and post them on the site.

I have worn the jacket a couple of times now and it is very comfortable. The colour of the goat skin is spot on, identical to my original RW 18091. without doubt the best repro I own or have owned!

Every single one of John's jackets I see in photographs looks perfect. Yours looks new, but not... new... hard to explain. As though you've found something deadstock. Well, it looks like it should! Simple enough!

Wow, that's one beautiful jacket! The detailing looks to be very accurate. How thick is the goatskin? Also what type of zip would Donigers have had?

The jacket has an original Talon zip, the same as originals. The goat is 2oz and is soft and supple.

Thanks again, Andrew for the detailed photos. They are worth more than words can say when it comes to learning as much about A-2s(as well as other jackets) as possible.

That jacket has every feature that I like in an A-2, it's one I have to start saving up for. I wonder how it would look in Seal horsehide, as that would be my preference.

It seems to me that John Chapman has done for the A-2 enthusiast what Steve Delk has done for the Indiana Jones fans. The quality and accuracy of their products will keep them busy for as long as they want.

Now I don't usually pass comment on any of the flightjacket threads as I have weaned myself off that scene over the past few years but I must say that jacket is very, very nice. The detailing is splendid.

As others have noted in related conversations, the Good Wear jackets are not cheap. But, having spent the last two weeks in one of Chapman's creations, I have to say that I don't regret a dime of the price. And this may matter to some of you guys: the jacket is made in America, just like they were 60-some years ago. That's worth a few dollars, too.
