For the life of me, I cannot capture the colour properly - the pic that John took is the real deal:

Hah! Bfd, you won't get me that easily. Tbh, the pics don't quite capture the fit properly, the body's slightly shorter than it appears there - the side pic is a better guide. I wore it out for the first time this evening, incredibly comfortable, trim fit but no chaffing under the arm, smells fantastic. Looking forward to getting some serious wear out of it. Question is, what next: seal or dark seal...:D:eek:

Okay, finally, after a head cold and a heavy week at work, some fit pics... Rubbish weather outside, so they're taken in the stairwell...

This it in its straight-out-of-the-box state, as I've not had a chance to wear it yet. The weather's either been too warm or too wet (I know, I know, but you have to ease yourself into a new jacket).

Great jacket, great fit. I especially like the collar.

Same here. The early Dubow collars are very different from later ones, much more crescent shaped and closer to the Rough Wear ones. Interesting fact: A-2 manufacturers tended to keep the same size of collar no matter the actual size of the jacket. This is why, say, while on a size 44 Monarch the collar looks fine, on a 36 it looks a bit odd.
There's also a whole thing about the way manufacturers would receive a request for X thousand size 40s, they'd look at the amount of leather they had and if it wasn't enough to cover that order, they would simply make smaller sizes that could cover it and tag them size 40s, but that's another story.

Interesting. I'm glad to read you say the angle of the photos has distorted the length a bit as I was thinking it did look a bit long. But you'd obviously know irl if it was and I'm glad to hear it isn't. What a great coup that is

Regarding the post above, so is this a smaller size but with a 40 tag on it, or is it an actual 40?

This has a 40 tag but really it’s v slightly over a 38 - I usually take a 38 in an A-2, as their sizing s are all over the place. My previous post is just a reference back to war time production and one of the reasons that it’s impossible to go by the label inside a vintage jacket!

Sloan, that really is a stunning jacket! I love the more classic collar profile of the 20960. The fit looks superb. John certainly nailed another great jacket! Congrats man, that sure must be one of the nicest repros ever to grace a forum. Looking forward to more fit pics as it wears in.

Thanks, Brett. The leather's already beginning to relax a bit from wear and take on that classic drape that you see in pics of originals.

Excuse me for saying so Craig, but were this mine I would be returning it for a refund because the pockets are off centre and the left side collar snap is installed on the zipper seam, which I do believe is considered a major sin amongst makers at this level

The pockets sure don’t look off center to me, after having examined their placement in all of the pictures provided.

How did you come to that conclusion, MVP? Maybe I’m missing something.
