Found this on Feebay for 25 bux, best condition coat of its vintage (late 40's?) I've ever seen, all the lining is good as new, which is rare, and it's a tight fit but still OK. I have three other Oregon brand coats, and this is a welcome addition

note the side buckle..pretty eh?

This one's been seen before: it's been relined

this old soldier has been on the road and worksites and whatever with me for 25 years, slept in it many times

This beast I found for 4 bux out in the country..VERY WARM

and how about this while we're on Australiana...late 50's or early 60's cotton windcheater by SPEEDO, never worn, another 5 buck wonder for the sharp-eyed!

What a lovely collection of jackets you have got going there! I dare say I'm not the only one who is envious of such a great grouping!! Plus your latest acquisition is just stunning, hardly been touched has it!! When you can get goodies like that, at such amazingly low prices, well, who would touch a repro? Looks like you're on a roll there my friend!!
Be good to let some close ups of your original labels and zips, for those of us unlucky enough to get such dream coats, if we are getting a repro, we can always request that certain zips are put in to make them look 'more authentic!' Or build a collection of the zips and accessories up to be incorporated later into a good repro jacket.

I'll try and get a close up of zips, but not 2 sure if camera is up 2 it, the brand on the first coat is 'Lightning', but I pay a lot of attention to buckles, they are very handy indicators, especially with later Brando style jackets, the best local label of which is HH Brent, but I've sold all the ones I had of them

Stylistically they are like a blend of British and American leather jacket design. Canadian jackets of the era have a very similar look.

The first two are very British looking, though the leather looks a bit heavier...britjackets tended to use very lightweight leathers.

I like the relined button front one with the raised patch pockets (no2). What size is it? If you ever decide to sell I might be interested.....

That one is roughly a 42 and fits me well, and as I told the story in another thread, I found it stiff as a board and white with mould and restored it, adding WW2 Australian Army buttons, it's a bit fragile though as the tear you can see repaired on one pocket was done by me merely putting my keys in there. the rest of it is robust though so I wear it quite a bit, definitely not for sale though
it's interesting you say that UK jackets had thinner leather, one would have thought that the opposite would apply considering the climate. I've had a couple of very fine jackets from NZ, they do some excellent leather there..all them feral deer put to good use.

ah well, no harm trying......!

yes, UK jackets tended to go for lighter, finer leathers like kid, cape, calf, goat, lamb. They are warm enough, but not as hard wearing as horse and steer.

I promised BT a while back that I'd get some photos of some of my British jackets up sometime. This has reminded me. Now all I need is some spare time........ha ha!
