May the next year not be as much of a ba***rd as the last.

So far I'm upbeat, have a good job with Hallmark Channel. My clothing business is picking up as I take care of loose ends from the collapse of my hat manufacturer. The state of the Lounge seems to be good, with plenty of new members, yet the older ones look to be straying.

I hope to post more here but time has been taken by long days on set.

To all of you my friends on the Fedora lounge, I wish you a happy New Year to come. May 2013 take you to new heights. Also, don't get lost in vintage to the point that you log off the lounge too much. We need new information to feed the masses, and this is where it all began, in a way, when it comes to the online vintage scene. I'd hate to see this place spiral away.

For me, 2012 was a great year, I had a great job in a wonderful country with a standard of living I couldn't hope for in the USA. I hope 2013 will be just as rewarding.

I can't complain too much about 2012, it had some ups and downs but on balance I came out ok. One milestone I'm looking forward to in 2013 is becoming eligible for elective retirement in November. From a practical standpoint it won't be financially feasible for a few more years, but it will be nice to know that the option is there for the taking all the same.

2012 had its ups and downs -- it was by far the best year we've had at the theatre since reopening in 2005, which was good, but the Red Sox had their worst season since 1965, casting a bitter pall over all of New England, at least for those of us who are Of The Faith. I won't know how I really feel about the year just past until I do my income tax.

It's too early to tell how 2013 will go, but there's no question that the Sox won't finish any higher than fourth. Bums.

I donno. Fifty-seven trips around the sun. Now a tenth the way around my fifty-eighth. The last trip wasn't the worst...wasn't the best. To paraphrase John Prine, I reckon last year was Pretty good, not bad, I can't complain...Cause actually all them years is just about the same.

2012 for me, uneventful. Not bad, but what a boring year for me. Granted I know I'm the only one that can make changes to make things more interesting. But it seems like each day was exactly the same thing for me. Same routines, same worries, same achievements. 365 days of Groundhog Day.

2012 was the roughest year of my life thus far, so I'm happy to say "good riddance" to it.
My resolution for this year is to "control the contollables" as they say, and I must say that the first 6 days have been invigorating and eye opening. 2013 is my year.

2012 wasn't bad at all for me - my youngest graduated college in May and found a job in his field by September. It was a better year at work than 2011 (and WAYYYY better than the disaster of 2009) - we aren't able to hire additional personnel but neither have we had any layoffs or RIFs since the downturn. My daughter got engaged to a great guy. The market continues to be healthy, meaning that all the mutual funds my 401(k) contributions bought "on sale" during 2009-10 are appreciating nicely.

I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy, and I'm optimistic about 2013, but if it doesn't go as well as 2012 I'll roll with the punches and keep getting up.
