A new movie that I enjoyed was "When Brendon met Trudy" Not a original point in the movie. Everything was stolen form other romantic movies. Very clever.

Guys and Dolls (1955) Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
General good movies (not comedies)

Guys and Dolls, that's one I've been wanting to see also...The few movies I've seen of Bing Crosby have been pretty good as well

I enjoy "movie culture" myself. My parents introduced my sister and I to the classics when we were younger starting with "arsenic and old lace" it ended with Monty Pythons flying circus. Past then I like to pick up the odd old one to have a look. A good guide I used for a while was the AFI (American Film Institution) top 100 moves of all time list.
