I'm a big fan of corduroy jackets and blazers. Form high wale to low wale (i.e thin cord to thick cord). I wonder if anyone knows who makes good quality cord clothing today. Most of what I have seen is very light, and corduroy, like leather, should have some weight and texture. Other cord products I have seen have been microfibre, and real cord is cotton.

Is there a company today which makes good, hard wearing cord outerwear these days? Or is it about buying the cord fabric from somewhere and getting a tailor to produce something reasonable. Cord hacking jackets and half-belts are great items of clothing but you don't see them much these days.

I've a cord blazer from Land's End that I've worn to death - looks better all the time. The cord trousers I had from J. Peterman were the single thing from them I didn't like. Very lightweight fabric that didn't hold up. I was almost glad when they caught on something and ripped.
As a side note - if you like corduroy, have to you had a look at moleskin?

I have a wonderful cord hacking jacket from Bookster, the quality of the corduroy is great and it's wearing in nicely. It's not in this colour...

I have several...RL makes a really nice one, heavy, from their Canadian licensee, I believe it's the "Lauren" line, often on sale. Territory Ahead used to have some more "beat" unstructured ones with lots of pockets at their outlets. Orvis used to have a heavy one like Lauren, but more vintage with elbow patches, maybe still does. As far as real vintage goes, I have a western one that has held up beautifully from Pioneer.

I love moleskin too. I have a great dark brown heavy moleskin blazer.

Tomasso, when I wrote real cord is cotton, I didn't mean it was better or that I preferred it. I shoudl have written that original cord is cotton.

I have never heard of the cashmere angle. Is that wool, I forget?

I think there may well be some woollen cord too.
