Aww. Yay I made the list.

Another to add would be Effie. My great grandmother was Effie Lenora. My mother meant to name me after her but couldn't remember if it was LenorA or LenorE. She went with Lenore because it flowed better with my chosen first name of Sarah and their last name. Til the day she died though, that woman declared that my mother hadn't named me after her!!!

My daughter's middle name is Louise (Chloe Louise). She is named for my mother (Sarah Louise) and my husband's grandmother (both born before 1928).
Some other family names are my grandmother Pearl Bertha Mae (born 1880's) and my aunts Ruby Alice Elizabeth, Dot, Edith, Caroline (I am named for her. She died of pneumonia at age 16 which was a source of anxiety for me until I was safely past that age!) and Gladys (the boys were Robert, Jasper and Chalmers) On the other side my grandmother was Eva Joyce and my dad's first cousin was Carlene.

My mothers name is Michelle and she would disagree with you on that point! She and my dad went on to give my siblings and I extra-unusual names as a protest against the popularity of both of theirs lol

Love all these old names, my Nana's are Alma (married to Reginald) and Margery (married to Ron). I know theres an "Aunty Dot" somewhere in the family, and one of my Nana's sisters is Anne.

I had aunts named Hazel, Ruth, Mildred, and Edith. My grandmother was Winona, and my great-grandmothers were Clara and Winifred. My grandmother's kitchen stove was a "Florence." (The living room stove was a Duo-Therm, but I don't think that makes the list.)

I work with people named Nora, Eve, and Joanna.

If I had a daughter, I'd have named her "Genora."

I had a cat named Nancy. My current cat is named Carol. My friend Nora has a cat named Rosie.

My grandmother (b. 1930) is named Phyllis, which has always seemed like the epitome of old-fashioned names to me. My great-grandmother (b. 1904) was Ardis, and my great-great-grandmother - a little before the period - was Mertis, so there was a theme going. I've come across quite a few Phyllises, and another Ardis, but never another Mertis.

Interesting thread, I always hated being named after Nana until I started becoming interested in vintage fashion and old Hollywood. Finally at 35 I have learned to embrace it and have started going by Delores instead of Lori. People says it's pretty now, but growing up I got made fun of constantly.

My great Grandma's name was Mable Claire (which she disliked) Her husband called her his "Rose". I am Annie Rose (after her and my dad, Danny). My daughters' names are Ruby Rose and Penelope (Penny) Jane. I wanted old fashioned names that weren't too outlandish. I do sometimes wish I'd gone with Bernadette, or Edwina, Beatrice (or Beatrix), Eleanor, Geraldine, or Frances. I know a Constance (she was my midwife!) I appear to have started a trend with the Ruby's though. We now know quite a few little girls with the name who are a few years younger than my Ruby.
My elderly neighbor growing up was Gladys. Her husband was Berend. Their friends in the 20s called them Glad-ass and Bare-end! My first clue that people of previous generations were not as staid as they might appear in photos!
