Some dubious(?) collectibles from the Golden Era: prophylactic tins and boxes. "For protection against disease," as the containers say.

Read the fine print at the top of this one. Hmmm ...

More needed now than then I fear. Great graphics--I especially like the Co-Eds.

Does anyone else find it interesting/sad that all those tins are in such pristine, unused condition?;)

What is it with the Egyptian connection with sex? The WWI film Gallipoli had a scene where the boys visit the backstreet bordellos of Cairo. Aussies were back there in WWII as well and the occasional old Digger used to whisper stories to us kids about their brothel creeping in Cairo. Maybe that is the connection with the Sphinx etc...

Well, the sultans of the Ottoman Empire have long been food for European fantasies ... scores of Victorian erotic novels dealt with harems, white slavery, etc.

Egypt? Mata Hari-style bellydancing, brothels, wild-eyed sheiks on galloping stallions ...

You know, for the longest time, I didn't think these things existed then. Whether or not they worked, they existed.
Nah. All fakes. Why would they exist when we all know sex was invented in the 1960s? :D

Seriously - I've known the term "merry widow" for a long time without ever realizing it was a real brand name.

Only hanky panky I saw in Egypt....was someone offering (jokingly I -think-) my bf of the time....14 camels for me....

Not -quite- the same thing..

The swine! Why, a spirited and lovely lady like you is surely worth at least 16 camels, 10 goats and a barely-used Farsh/'Qalii' rug! lol

That actually happened to a friend of mine in Turkey. She was apparently worth only 6 camels . . . :(
