While looking through some old family photos and documents I found this picture of my German side of the family gathering for Christmas in 1945: http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8130/copyofcopyofschwabefami.jpg
It was a huge family (nearly all of those people are siblings) but unfortunately I believe everyone in the photo has died. The guy with the glasses in the foreground landed in the first wave at Omaha Beach and was referenced/interviewed in a lot of books. His name was Gil Murdoch (for example... http://books.google.com/books?id=O6...d=0CCIQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=gil murdoch&f=false) the guy to his left was fighting during the Ardennes Offensive, and my grandmother is the one on the right holding the dog. The photo was taken in South Ozone Park, Queens.
Anyways, I just thought I would open a thread for us to share photos of our family from the period. I thought this little discovery I made coincidently paired with the just past holiday
