Actually, I fibbed. A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim and, of course, Casablanca top my list.
The latter poses an eternal question of moral right and wrong, set against the Second World War,
and the flight of Cupid's arrow; all of which forces personal exam, something most films never achieve.
A war in one's youth upends to greater or lesser extent later life,
all the more precious and poignant, leaving shadows quite discernible
to the individual and his conscience.

Rick made the obviously correct choice; however, to have erred against conscience, to take Ilsa to neutral Ireland, install her in a Dublin brownstone off Phoenix Park, and to sit out the war with red meat, hard liquor, and Ingrid Bergman does continuously tempt me.;):)
