Golden Bear vintage A2?

So I came across this what appears to be a 70's or 80's A2 from Golden bear, made in USA with Talon Zippers and it was just my size...
I picked it up at 90$

As a curious jacket head, would you say that this is a nice piece or just meh? I'm always interested in the history of the used stuff I buy.

Also, what dye would I have to use if I wanted to take this to chocolate brown color? Would love a recommendation. - Could I just get a bottle of Chocolate Feibing Pro Dye and rub it on with a coarse cloth? Or must I use solvents first.

Cool jacket. Very similar to 1980’s pre-distressed cowhide A-2’s sold by LL Bean, Banana Republic, etc.
I think if you try to re-dye it you might end up with a hot mess since the hide was already made with a distressed finish and never had an even, solid uniform color to begin with.
I would just enjoy it as-is.
