That's right.[/

Beyond style- I wear men's clothing often because it's better. It's just made so much better, even than women's vintage clothing. And, certainly higher quality than most modern made apparel.
Plus I used to find wonderful men's clothing in such small sizes it didn't fit most of my male customers but it fit me. I'm hooked.

Coco Chanel in the 1920’s at Rosehall House in Sutherland, Scotland, owned by her lover Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, the 2nd Duke of Westminster, Coco is dressed with the Duke's fishing clothes! :D

with a friend, Vera Bate Lombardi

Part of the genius/success of Coco Chanel was her ability to translate her personal enjoyment of the "simplicity" of men's clothing (versus the insanely fussy and structured design of women's clothes of the times) into fashionable clothes for women. Her clean lines were more than a visual/style change but where also a transformation in how women approached dressing and thought about the fit and comfort of clothes. Her impact can be seen in the simple garments of the flappers versus the hoop-skirt, multiple-layered clothes of their mothers. It's cool that part of her inspiration came from her enjoyment and understanding of the benefits of men's clothes.

Vita Sackville-West from "Portrait of a Marriage" - Such style!

That stance alone speaks to an impressive and attractive confidence - the clothes only emphasize it.

If you haven't watched the movie titled Coco before Chanel, you ought to, you will love that movie, she truly was a wonderful character. Based on that movie, it seems like her ideas were not welcomed immediately, yet she still changed the world of fashion, she is my hero, such an inspiration!

I saw it and enjoyed it - beautifully filmed. I have great respect for what she accomplished from her brutal start in life and her obvious talent, but her actions during WWII are concerning albeit unclear. I'm not denouncing her for what is not proven - but there is definitely some unpleasant circumstantial evidence out there on her.
