I think that the ladies should tread carefully in this territory, because it's not a look that is easy to pull off.

I find that musician Janelle Monae pulls it off because she sticks with it, and it's her trademark. She owns it. She doesn't just throw on some baggy trousers and a tie willy nilly.

Having said that, to resurrect that old cliche, there's no accounting for taste!

I don't know how they do it. Here is a young woman with a hat that is obviously way too large for her, and yet she looks fantastic. :eusa_clap

Actually, I was thinking she looked like one of those gangsters from the old looney tunes cartoons! Remember the one guy that looked about 4 foot nothing and 3 feet of that was his hat? I should say, though, that the rest of her is just fine!

Edit:
Here we go :D

Gender Bending Clothing

What was available for the men and women of the 20's and 30's who preferred the attire of the opposite sex? Women who felt more comfortable in men's clothing, and men who felt the desire to dress fashionably or flamboyantly? Particularly transexual people. I assume back then they would stretch the gender appropriateness of their clothing, much like some of the flapper's would shorten their bathing suit as much as legally possible.

I understand that amongst some types in Weimar Germany, it was popular for women to wear men's clothing, such as white-tie for evening dress.

I LOOOOOOVE Janelle Monae's style!!! The fashions in this video of hers knocked my socks off!!!! . She wears many pieces drawn from men's (vintage) wear with great flair!

Now that I have to share it is clear that I need more (bow)ties? They are far more memorable on madame so I have to change them often.

Not sure if we already had here here: Carole Lombard
