Was doing a search on using duct tape for a bra, as a few friends have needed this info lately! I used duct tape in my first wedding, as did my maid of honor! Great support and cleavage, and a reducer if need be!
Anyhoo.. here's instructions for a duct tape corset!

Except I would use a t-shirt underneath, (one you don't mind cutting up), and then cut a good inch or so MORE off of the corset after cutting it so that when you lace it up it will fit extra snug.

Well, Kitty T., I went back to SIL and I think the pix I had in my head was the strapless bra on the Curvy Woman site. ("Bella", maybe??) Anyway, the model looks much more shapely and contained, in my opinion, in the strapless bra with the underwires, than she does in the other bra options pictured. I realize that this is different than an all-in-one, and that the additional fabric and structure of the all-in-one might lend support and definition of its own. I think that in my MIND, I was seeing the strapless one I'm referring as the top part of an all-in-one; alas, it is not! Though that would be even better for me! Anyway, if I crank up the courage, I'll give a non-wire a whirl and return it if it doesn't work.

Hello! I am new and I just wanted to say hello to all the dolls out there...Anyways I am so glad I found this site. It has alot of really good tips and ideas. I have been wanting a corset or a waist cincher for sometime. I am just tied to what would work best for me. I seem to have a problem in my tummy area I guess this is where I hold all of my fat. So I am looking to getting something that will help me have good tummy control when I wear my pretty dresses. I hate the fact that when I do wear them I have a pouch you can see. I guess it is from having my babies but I am really not happy with it. Do you have any ideas on what would work best??? I know the corset is more for sizing down and the waist cincher gives you that hourglass shape. But I would really like something to help me control the tummy and is great for everyday use. Any suggestions out there???

Hi Badlee and welcome!
I don't know much about the girdles and supports that the girls speak of here. I do have some *real* corsets but like you said, they're not for every day use. (At least not for me!)

I've been wearing a support that I bought at Walmart. It looks like biker shorts and comes up to my bra almost. It has hook and eyes down the front and some boning. I've been extremely pleased with it. I've just lost over 70 pounds and still have a "baby pooch" as well, and this has been perfect.

Might wanna start with that since it's cheap (under $20), and then get to learn about the other garments... which is what I'm trying to do! ;)

Badleekitty, welcome! Definitely read through this thread and do a search for threads with terms like "girdle", "cincher" and "foundation". There's a lot of info here already and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. A lot of the ladies here strongly recommend the Rago panty girdles and body briefers. You can find them at http://www.girdlebound.com and http://www.alexis4u.com, among many other places.

Thanks! Sweetie your right I think I might have found something for I just ordered the waist cincher at whatkattiedid website. You gals talk so highly of that product so I wanted to give it a try. I wasn't sure on the size so I just ordered a 32". This is my waist when I suck in my stomach. Do you think I should have sized down or that will be good?? I know the waist cincher is not like a corset where you have to order 4 inches off your regular waist. What do you think???

Strapless Bra Question

Hi Ladies, any truth to the thought that when buying a strapless bra one should go a size down? Ex, noramlly wear a 42 DD, should go down to a 40 D for a strapless. Help desperately needed. Thanks!!

I just bought a strapless bra recently for my wedding dress. I normally wear a 34FF, and I bought the strapless in the same 34FF. And it's super supportive! The lady at the bra store told me 90% of a bra's support should come from the band. So if you are wearing the correct size bra, it should be the same size. This is the bra I got, I only wear Fantasie because I am such a hard size to fit, but they are wonderful. And you can find them on ebay cheaper.

Wow Ohairas, you look amazing. A great inspiration, as I gained some of my weight back from the wedding. Man, it comes on fast. I like the idea of the core program tho'. Also, probably very good for people trying to cut out sugar too.

Thanks for the inspiration!

The decided measurement for girdles/foundation garments was 2 inches smaller than your waist correct? I had ordered/won one on the bay that was supposed to be 2 inches smaller and it is actually lose. I need to relist it now, so I was double checking on what the measurements were acutally supposed to be. I am ticked off now though. It was so purty. Up to the belly button, little past the thighs like shorts, with suspenders for stockings. :rage:
