I bought one of these coats -- vegetable goat, russet -- and liked its look and heft. It was just too durn big, so I sent it back.

My wife bought me one of these for Christmas two or three years ago, it's a very nice jacket. One thing I have noticed recently though from looking at other member's jackets on this forum, G&B A-2's don't fit near as slim as other makers. The quality is top notch they just fit a little baggier than some people might like.

ps: I just tried to get on their web site and it doesn't appear to be operating at the moment.....

yeah, i don't know what the hell is wrong with their sizing; i ordered my regular size indy jacket and it is oversized; i'll keep it simply because i can live with that, and i really, really, realy hate sending stuff back and dealing with vendors; but obviously this is a general problem; i'm never, ever shopping from them again though; they're really shooting themselves in the foot - good materials and good stitching don't matter that much if the fit is f***d up;

SiZabLe question

on size, something i found out pretty quick with not only vintage a-2 and g-1s (or any leather jacket) but with the modern stuff as well, size varies from manufacturer to manufacturer...and oft times from style of coat to style even WiTHiN manufacturers...

i've posted before how uswings 44 milspec a-2 was the same size (26" armpit to armpit) as their milspec 46 g-1...their rationalization was that people would layer clothing with an a-2, so make 'em bigger

but that says it all...manufacturers shOuLd give the inch measurements with their size measurements for leather jackets...but until they do that (and they never will) you need to call up and ask the armpt to armpit on this or that jacket, or sleeve length, or collar seam back to bottom...

it will be a headache, and most of the time they'll have to call you back with the info, or switch the call to someone else...but it beats paying $500 for a jacket that won't fit...i learned the hardway

and yes, gibson and barnes are one of those manufacturers that makes them big...their 44 g-1 is 26" armpit to armpit...they didn't have the measurements, but one of their very nice customer reps pulled one from their store and measured it...as well as a 46 for me, which i believe was 27" for the same measurement...and this is milspec sizing, and about what uswings measurements are (though their customer service is not in the same league as gibson/barnes...uswings is the bush leagues...they charged me shipping upon returning a g-1 within the time period allotted and with proper tags, because it had ripped leather...that it had come with)

so always ask the inch counts, even if it takes several calls...oh, yeah, and did i say, kNoW your body's inch counts so you know what fits?
