I own one as well. IMHO, the Gibson & Barnes jackets are way oversized. I usually wear a size 44L or 46L sportcoat but in the G&B A-2 I wear a 42L and can even fit in a size 40L (I stopped in their showroom when I was in San Diego last year and tried one on; it was a snug, form-fitting WWII-style, but wearable).
The hardware, stitching, zippers, snaps, everything was exact. I wore the jacket for about 3 or 4 months and it still looks new (apart from some creasing at the sleeves where the arm bends).
For the price, though, I would probably just buy an Aero from Scotland. The goatskin is a little thin for my taste, but I love the silk lining! Not really worth the $700 price tag (when you factor in shipping). But to each his own. Good luck sir.
