I was in a low mood last night and was flipping through the channels for something light and halfway decent. TMC and AMC were playing newer era horror films. But this new station called Veria(?) was showing the old 1940 Bob Hope vehicle The Ghostbreakers. Certainly not one of his best, but good atmosphere and acting. The channel looks to be geared toward alternative health and medicine. I don't know why they were showing a classic film like that. But I'm not going to argue, as it was just what I needed at the time.

We've been getting that channel on DISH but I don't know if it's permanent or not since they have previews of different stations ongoing.[huh]

I was channel surfing too, and found it too. Nice flick and a nice change from the graphic scenes that seem to be preferred this weekend.

Early Bob Hope movies always keep me watching if I come across one late at night. I grew up watching his TV specials in the 1970's and the jokes were pretty tired (although I kept watching) and there was little to indicate what an amazingly fast and funny comic actor he once was. It was a real treat when I first saw one of his old films. The Ghostbreakers is worth watching also for the lovely Paulette Goddard too.

That's an entertaining film and high on Halloween watch list at our house. It was later remade as "Scared Stiff," with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in the Hope/Goddard roles. In some scenes, it's almost a word-for-word remake.
