The demolition of a few buildings in the Granville/Robson block has unveiled a “ghost sign” advertising a Harold Lloyd movie at the Capitol Theatre.

The "ghost sign" and this poster promote "5 Part Feature".
LizzieMaine, do you know if this was a serial at the time?
Thanks.

This says something to me about the past when soda/beer
distrubutors, busmen, milkmen, postmen and movie ushers
were required to wear uniforms.
Last time, I saw a fully uniformed chauffer wearing high boots
similar to the 1930s was in Hollywood in '77.
But that was the exception in which the actress demanded.
These folks were like "Norma Desmond", clinging
to a bygone era.
At home they dressed very "casual" and rarely stepped
out in public. They are all gone now including the swimming
pools, tennis courts and garages filled with vintage cars that
were kept in tune daily but hardly driven.

I'm very familiar with that sign, the business is still there, but I believe they serve pretty much only law enforcement and fire fighters these days.

Now that is spooky.

I have seen some dying little towns in North Alabama that have most of the windows of the former businesses on the square boarded up. Sad end to once thriving towns.

I was an Army helicopter pilot. There is no longer anything I am afraid of. If it spooks me, I'll just shoot it. No more spookiness. Simple solution to a spooky problem.

De Oppresso Liber

B-52 Bombers myself.
Although I still get spooked.
Especially when folks text and drive at the same time.
If possible, I try not to drive on long-distance trips
during the holiday season.
