Adam Levine Appreciated Ghosts At Houdini's Haunted Mansion
By Staff
Jun 4, 2007

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is glad he recorded his new album at the former mansion of legendary magician Harry Houdini - the ghosts there helped them write "some great songs".

The This Love singer insists the band shared the mansion with things not from this world - but far from being scared they turned to the spirits for musical help.
He says, "I'd show up, do my work, and leave before I could see the blood coming out of the walls". [huh]

They see dead people

By Griffin Pritchard
Progress staff writer
Montgomery Advertiser

When the term "paranor*mal investigators" is heard, many people conjure the co*medic images of Bill Mur*ray, Dan Akroyd and Har*old Ramis as the characters of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz and Egon Spengler from the 1984 movie "Ghost*busters," cracking wise and shooting atomic beams at the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Ask local residents who are members of the South*ern Paranormal Research*ers, and they'll tell you par*anormal investigation is nothing like that.

"We hang out in New Or*leans. We've been to Charleston," said Leslie Kirk, a member of the Southern Paranormal Re*searchers located in Pratt*ville. "We went to Robinson Springs last week and we've been to the Wetumpka area schools to investigate."

According to the group's founder, Shawn Sellers, while at Robinson Springs Methodist Church, they had an interesting experi*ence.

"We had an instance where we heard someone walking above us and a door opened and closed," said Sellers. "But we haven't been able to go through all of the audio yet to see what else we could find."

"We heard what sounded like a television turning on and we couldn't find the television set," said Kirk.

*
"You've got places like New Orleans, Savannah and Charles*ton tapping into their historical roots and offering paranormal tours," said Sellers. "I think that with as much history as this state possesses, it's an untapped market and would a very suc*cessful one for the state to ex*plore."

Sellers and his group, which can be found on the Web at www.southernparanormalre*searchers.com or www.dspr.com, do a weekly ra*dio show that deals with issues of the paranormal. The webcast is scheduled regularly on blogtalk*radio at 9 p.m. Links to the webi*sodes are on the Southern Para*normal Researchers Web site as well as case studies and testimo*nials.

Anybody else watch the TV show Ghost Hunters? Basically, a couple of Roto-Rooter plumbers and their friends research the paranormal on their days off. My father got me excited about it. I'm sure most people think it's the bunk, (my fianc?©e thinks I'm daft) but I like how these guys are so blue collar, and while they're respectful of the witnesses (and of the dead) they also seem to do everything they can to disprove a dubious haunting.

Am I alone here in my addiction to/ respect for this show? [huh]

What network? What channel? I might be able to raise it up if it's not on cable.

They Walk by Night

I used to work in a Juvie Detention facility. The building on the grounds we were in dated to 1878. A real creepy place. It's original purpose was as the County Home for the indigent and insane...There is a cemetery on the grounds as well...

I used to do awake Overnight shifts and I can't tell you the number of times I would have to run up the stairwell because I heard "someone walking down and noone is there or hearing footsteps on the floor above and running up and nobody...

They kept a log and over the course of 27 years there were over 150 sightings of only about 3 different characters. A young girl in a white dress, a man in his early 20's wearing striped outfit of some kind and an old man with whiskers, a straw hat and overalls...These apparitions would be seen mostly by the youth who would have no knowledge of past sightings...

I never "felt" a good or bad vibe from the place but something did fly off the wall one time when there's no way it should have and I did feel an ice cold draft waft by me on a still hot July night....

I still don't believe but I know what I've seen and heard....

Thanks, Enik.
And Nulty, I have little problem thinking a remnant of a person's personality can ... errrr ... remain (sorry to be redundant). I only doubt it has a mind or any will or self-consciousness... I think it's just like a lingering smell. I am not sure how it gets "recorded" by its surroundings, though ... electromagnetic energy?
I am ignorant of these matters: I of course have no idea as the evidence is not profuse and seldom repeatable ...

Good analogy ... "a lingering smell"....I'll have to look twice next time I think I smell an apple pie in the oven.:)

the thing is though I do believe these things are an energy. Being so there should be a way to capture it. I've seen things move when they shouldn't have and make sounds where none have been. There is something that must propel that. Whether there is a will to that energy I couldn't say.

I say I don't believe. It's too complicated to say why not. It's easy to say I've seen and heard because that is true But I guess my mind just refuses to open the doors of perception that would allow complete acceptance...

I've never seen a thing, and always wanted to. But I think your attitude is admirably moderate.

Believe it or not: Ghost hunters go high-tech

The pursuit of paranormal activity combines age-old beliefs with 21st century technologies.

When Sharon Leong conducts field work, she packs a digital camera, a thermometer and an electromagnetic field meter. She isn't a private detective or an electrician. Leong, a legal secretary by day, is an avid ghost hunter by night.

With those gizmos and many others in tow, Leong treks to reputedly haunted homes, battlefields, bars and hotels, gathering what she thinks may be evidence of a world beyond this earthly one.

The pursuit of ghostly evidence has been a popular pastime for centuries. Now, instead of Ouija boards, ghost hunters are increasingly turning to high tech gear to assist in their search.

Renovator uncovers mummified infant TheStar.com - GTA - Renovator uncovers mummified infant
Baby found wrapped in bundle of newspaper dated 1925 in wall of Riverdale home
July 25, 2007

Renovator Bob Kinghorn got the shock of his life when he found a mummified infant wrapped in newspaper dated Sept. 12, 1925, in a house he was working on last night.

"You always hope to find something in walls – coins, antiques – but never a baby," he said as he stood in front of the home on Kintyre Ave., near Broadview Ave. and Queen St. E., late last night.

Kinghorn, 37, who lives two doors away from the three-storey, semi-detached Riverdale area home, was about to drill a hole through a ceiling joist for wiring when he noticed a bundle of newspaper he first thought was insulation in a second floor bedroom of the empty home about 8 p.m.

He said he and a co-worker had noticed a strange smell in the room, but didn't realize what it was until he pulled the package out from the wall.

"When I opened it up, it exposed the child," he said.

The infant, which he estimated at about four months of age, was in a fetal position wrapped in a bundle of old newsprint and he could see tiny toes sticking out.

"It looked the size of my four-month-old," he said, while running his fingers through his hair, still in disbelief at what he had found.

After getting a search warrant, a police forensic team and body removal crew entered the home at about 11:30 p.m.

Kinghorn said when he opened the package, he realized what it was and the date leapt off the page at him.

He said it was a Toronto newspaper, but he didn't know which publication.

"It's so sad. But it's a good thing the baby can be put to rest," Kinghorn said.

"Wow, 1925. Maybe she had a baby she had murdered. Who knows what the story behind this is?" he mused.

Kinghorn said paramedics who came to the scene said it looked like the infant had a crushed hip.

The mummified infant's remains will be examined at the Centre for Forensic Science and the case will be investigated by the homicide squad.

That is just disturbing. IT might not have been affected me so much so before I had a child of my own but knowing what a four month old child looks and acts like just makes it worse. It takes a seriously disturbed person to do something like that.
My problem is that they will never be brought to justice since they are likely dead by now. :rage:

Regards,

J
