Source? It may well be that some former Nazis slipped into the police force, but no one would seriously claim that this was politically acceptable in any way. These symbols were not in use at the time and are definitely not in use on any official uniforms.

It's fair to say there are myriad symbols that any nation carries across a range of eras, some of which pick up negative associations at some time and another - some fatally so, others temporarily. Some of these older symbols the predated the Reich period have in some shape or form carried forward, others (the Stahlhelm in particular) were dropped after 1945.

Let's not disappear into a rabbit hole and distract from the main thread, but...

Artikel 131 GG, especially § 67 or ask for Hans Globke as a starter.
If you like a little more input about German police during and after the war you may follow up with some authors like Christopher Browning, Michael Wildt, Christian Gerlach, Andrej Angrick, Götz Aly, Ernst Klee…

For the symbols: It has been regulated under the „Gesetz über Titel, Orden und Ehrenzeichen“ from 26. Juli 1957 (BGBl. I S. 844) that an Iron Cross for example was allowed to be worn in without nationalsocialistic symbols in full size and as miniature, prerequisite was that legal acquisition could be proven.

According to Edward I’d too would propose to leave it that way.

What a great jacket! I think these thick wrapped leather buttons would look really good on a Freewheelers Centinela--not digging the metallic buttons that are too contrasting and in your face.

What a great jacket! I think these thick wrapped leather buttons would look really good on a Freewheelers Centinela--not digging the metallic buttons that are too contrasting and in your face.

Got this 1970/80s HARRO Racer.

Was tagged size 54 (which should be a 46 in international sizing), but fits more like a 38 or very slim 40, so it’s gonna be a catch and release.
Will do a post in the Classifieds soon.

Jacket is really cool, so it’s a shame I can’t make it work. These are unobtainium in larger sizes.

Some of you may know this from my thread "Ride in style".

This is my oldest motorcycle gear. It was tailored in the 1920s in Germany. Veg tanned brown horsehide now showing a variety of shades of brown. Style is almost like a vest and both jacket and breeches have button down pockets. Buttons are made of Bakelite, the first industrial produced plastic (very envouge back in the days). Jacket is designed straight with big collar, small shoulders and a high armskye. Breeches are high waist especially at the back to avoid wind catching the spine. This suit was on display at a private motorcycle collection since the 1960s. The leather helmet was made in Paris in the 1920s also.

Greetings mate, I have the same Jacket and Jodhpurs.....you sure of it being 1920's not 1930's? I ride an Indian also and wear mine......can't now my belly is too fat. Aren't you on Vintage Leather Forum?

1930s German motorcycles jackets were usually custom tailored. Same basic design with double row of leather buttons and 4 small zipped pockets. Here are some out of my collection in Nougat, Chocolate brown and Mokka to sweeten your sunday.

These are just freaking beautiful!!! I have several just like these but the threading is starting to break at the seams so I am unsure as to the best method to protect it. So I put them in storage bins. Here in Texas I was wearing them and Jodhpurs but people sort of mocked me wearing them. F' em I like it, now I am too fat to wear them.

For over 20 years I have been wearing these types of Leathers and clothes trying to get people interested in this style to wear. Nope, seems like everyone in Texas is either Cowboy or Ghetto!
