Coloured trimming showed up in the early 50s. First they were of leather , in the late 50s and early 60s they were made in plastic. Common colours were red, orange and white.

Guys were small back then. US 36 / DE 46 was standart. What size is yours? I´m interested if shoulders are like 45cm.
This one is even smaller

50 cm Brustweite
63 cm Ärmellänge
43 cm Schulter
50 cm Länge

I fits my girlfriend

Must be a case of, „the grass is always greener on the other side“.

I just cannot make myself appreciate this kind of jacket. Too many pockets, belts, buttons. Odd cuts and then all that plastic! Only to be topped by Harro splattering their version of the unbearable Iron Cross everywhere.

But then I don’t like Kraftwerk, Nena and all the other „Neue Deutsche Welle“ Heroes either…

Good idea for a thread though, and maybe even helpful in filling my very own blind spot in that regard.

Some of you may know this from my thread "Ride in style".

This is my oldest motorcycle gear. It was tailored in the 1920s in Germany. Veg tanned brown horsehide now showing a variety of shades of brown. Style is almost like a vest and both jacket and breeches have button down pockets. Buttons are made of Bakelite, the first industrial produced plastic (very envouge back in the days). Jacket is designed straight with big collar, small shoulders and a high armskye. Breeches are high waist especially at the back to avoid wind catching the spine. This suit was on display at a private motorcycle collection since the 1960s. The leather helmet was made in Paris in the 1920s also.

I like the vest style with the pointy edge. Y'2 makes a similar style but without the pointy edge. This came out around 2 years ago.

This one is new though. Another German style repro by Y'2

That’s a great look! Some time ago I spotted a similar one on German ebay. Too small for me unfortunately, they’re always so small.

I get that, it wasn’t love at first sight for me either. But you have to admit these guys look pretty cool.

One thing I hate are braided epaulettes, too much of a DDR vibe for me.

These Y'2 versions are very nice. A good choice for todays sizes, as you won't find original ones in 42 and plus.

Thedi is top notch as always! My choice for a new jacket in this style.
Braides epaulettes showed up on german motorcycle jackets in the mid 1930s. They were almost on every jacket until the late 80s.
The b/w picture was taken in 1932 and shows Martin Schneeweiss in the center, European Speedway Champion back then. No epaulettes.

These fotos show Martin Schneeweiss, European Speedway Champion in 1932, wearing a motorcycle jacket with a very unique collar. This style was seen only in a small region at the German / Austrian border. I am happy to have one in my collection.
It is goat skin and in a quite worn shape. Late 1920s early 1930s.
