Here’s a hat I actually forgot I had. It came as part of a deal on a hat I was actively after. Given the generic-ness of the logo and other text, it’s hard to find much of anything about it. The felt is actually quite nice... I’m not a fan of deep teardrops like this so I’ll have to try a diamond or something to get some height out of it I guess.

I have a hat branded Manhattan. I don't think I ever posted it (it's in an awful state). Had to remove the edge stitching and replace the ribbon.Sorry I missed this one. Looks to be in great condition. My guess is later 1950s. I will have to see if I can find who had the "Manhattan" trademark. It could be a distributor like F.W. Schneider.
Steve, you want to check for the Windsor trademark as well (although I believe there are different ones). The labels are the same.Stefan, Thank you for posting yours! I will have to check some of my documents to see if I can find anything.
Stefan, I couldn't find anything on "Windsor" but I think it might have been Mayser Milz that made some of them. That could also be the case with the "Manhattan" trademark.
Nice work (as always) on the Manhattan, Stefan.I have a hat branded Manhattan. I don't think I ever posted it (it's in an awful state). Had to remove the edge stitching and replace the ribbon.

Thanks, Steve. It was a a first attempt and I found out the hard way that there's a huge difference in real ribbon and modern stuff.Nice work (as always) on the Manhattan, Stefan.

The hard work was worth the effort, Stefan. The ribbon style is worthy of a 50s early 60s Sinatra look. Thanks, Steve. It was a a first attempt and I found out the hard way that there's a huge difference in real ribbon and modern stuff.
Thank you for the posting the photos. There is no company mark on the paper label. It's definitely later so my guess would be 1990s Gubener Hüte GmbH.
Somewhere along the line the quality of the DDR hats took a real nosedive and they ended up with rather crude hats. I made a fez out of one I bought with no regrets. Now there's a thought, Brent.Thank you for the information. It’s a rather unremarkable hat that I’ll be passing on. If it was a DDR hat or something interesting it keep it for its historical value, but a 1990s entry level hat isn’t what I’m after. No regrets; all part of learning and now I know.
Thanks again,
Brent

It's highly possible this hat is post DDR. Actually there are some nice (for the time period) Gubener hats that came out later. I will post photos of one when I get a chance.Somewhere along the line the quality of the DDR hats took a real nosedive and they ended up with rather crude hats.
