The liner has torn from age, but the hat body and swear are in immaculate shape

Thank you Steve! It is my first flight and I was a bit nervous and as I realized that my Stetson Straw, rests on the kitchen table it was to late to ride back.
The Cap is a good alternative to my Stetson and feels very good on my head on a hot day! Better as nothing!

It's actually in great shape, aside from the ribbon being wrinkled, and the liner torn in areas!

Most of the times the felt itself is almost indestructible and the liner, ribbon and sweatbands the more vulnerable parts. The question is then: leave it like it is or replace the damaged parts?

I'll probably pull the liner out and preserve it. It's more in danger while in the hat. Almost looking at it makes it want to fall out some more. The ribbon will stay, as it is just wrinkled nothing more

Can't leave without at least posting one hat (still have to take pictures of the recent finds). Here's an older one. Der Diplomat in brown, size 56, bound brim at 6,5cm and crown at 10,5 at the pinch. Nice thin ribbon. This one I believe dates from the late fifties or early sixties. Der Diplomat was a brand name and I confess I don't know who actually made the hat.

Not all hats are created equal. We all know that and not even all hats of the same brand are equals. I found out (as if I didn't know already) that there are disadvantages to trading through auction sites. Case in point: Hückel fedora in black, size 57. Raw edge brim at 6,5 cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. I was hoping for another Hückel Foulard (posted here recently) but this one turned out to be a ho-hum fairly modern hat. And it's made out of wool. Sometimes you strike oil and sometimes it's mud.

And sometimes it's in between. There's a lot to like about this P&C Habig fedora in brown. Raw edge brim at 6cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. Lined with plastic covering of the crown patch. The colour is a nice deep and dark brown and the hat has a great chamois finish. The hat was pre-formed however and the liner was glued in. Or am i just being picky?

Stefan, Supposedly Friedrich W. Schneider(FWS) of Cologne (Stetson Europe) had the trademark for Hückel in Germany in mid to later 1990s. This kind of looks like a Guben Hat Works production.
