If the Hat didn't have a Liner it had a Crown Tip Patch. The Liner or Crown Tip Patch might give us additional information but as I mentioned I believe it's a Non Branded Hat so wouldn't probably be helpful. The Paper Label has no Company Mark and the format doesn't match any Branded German hat company (I can check some more). The Paper Label could also be from Distributor but again No Mark.

As Daniele pointed out there are French hats with similar Form, Dimensions and Felt + Finish from the time period mentioned by Matt. Same as others such as Tonak (Czechoslovakia).

"Flamand" is a French term but it was also used by German Hat Companies. The German definition of Flamand is the following.

"The unclipped (unshorn) velour hair is called “Flamand”, in this case the hair is long, undulated, soft and glossy as it reflects a lot of light."

Thanks for the additional information Mayserwegener. Again, I appreciate you looking into it. If you get any other information on it, please let let me know. In the the meantime, I am looking forward to the weather getting a bit cooler so I can start wearing my hat again :)

Borchert Berlin W, 58cm, date stamped Dec. 13, 1957. This is a really great Homburg. I am fairly certain it was made by Mayser. The Felt is fantastic but of a heavier weight so looks great without side dents.

I believe the number sequence is actually a date. It's either 2.11.56 or 21.1.56. Either is a good a match for the Sweatband stamped date.

Thank you! If I stumble upon something I will make any update. You should look for some more vintage / antique hats in the meantime. :)

Carl Ceschka Wien, Back Bow, 58 cm possibly 1920s. I think this might be what was called an Artist's Hat / Künstlerhut based on the wide 3.5 inch brim (just don't see brims this wide). The black Velour is of very high quality with very high gloss. I couldn't locate a paper label and didn't want to disturb the sweatband too much. Carl Ceschka Wien hats are not very common plus the unusual wide brim makes it a special find.

Doesn't get any better than that. Spectacular find, Steve.

Mark, Thanks! I was happy to find it.

Yes, the crease on nr 327 is great and also nr 324. Both are young man's hats. You can see the entire catalog with English translations here. You can click on the catalog pages to expand the image.

There was a seller on Ebay selling crease clips a few years ago. They were somewhere in Europe but not sure if they are still available. I will check into it. The only crease clips I have came with the hats.

Here is a photo from 1928 of a stylish Austrian young man wearing a hat with a similar crease as nr 324. I found this photo back in 2012.

There was an auction for a NOS box of those crease clips in the UK. I bought that box. Haven't seen any since.

The reference to sewing your crease in place (no sewing) on the box, is interesting.......AND I remember you and that great find every time I use one of these to these purpose.......what can I say....it works. And yes, I "soften" it up some, and remove the hing bars after I set it.

Stefan, Super find. Those are the same manufacture as the ones I remember. Some of them had Dermotta Wien and the sellers (I believe on Etsy and Ebay) were out of the Czech Republic and Cypress. Here is the link. You can keep scrolling down. There are a few related posts.

Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz "Flexible", FP 5 3/4, possibly 1930s. Old Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz hats are not common especially in my size. I believe this is Fur Felt with a Chamois like finish. Based on the condition it must not have been worn often. Also a FP quarter size 5 3/4 so 58.5cm. An extra bonus is that it came with the original cardboard shipping box which rarely survived.
