Hey Steve,

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/german-austrian-hutmachers.32103/post-2992202

Just read the recipient name...
Next curios mindblowing thing...
Why m. Mertés writes a letter to Mayser Milz & Co in 1916?
If Mayser bought milz in 1929 ...

Martin, It was Milz & Co. Lindenberg I/Allgäu Straw Hat Factory at that time.

Martin, Thank you for the additional photos. S. G. is W. & G. Schuchard, Giessen, Lahn. They were a Wholesaler, Distributor, Importer.

The Hat probably had a Liner. Possibly made by R. & M. Wegener who had a "Manhattan" brand (see link below). The R. & M. Wegener Form number was also 5 digits.

Matt, Thanks for posting this. I came across these plates back in 2009 (see link below) but looks like new photos. They are really fantastic but as you point out too pricey. Also I already have shoeboxes full of print plates. :)

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Plume", 58 cm, F.P. 5 1/2, 128 grams possibly early 1930s maybe late 1920s. The Stiff Felt came with an original J. Hückel´s Söhne internal wood frame Cardboard Box (see below) which is something I have been looking for many years. The Stiff Felt is in mint condition and overall is really fantastic (one of my finest). The black Felt has a great finish and is light in weight. The black Liner has a gold embossed JHS Crest that is offset by a off white textured + decorated Sweatband. The Bow design unique + striking. Also came with a JHS external Paper Size Tag (see below) which is also an item that I have been looking for a long time. The shop that sold all this was located in Užhorod, Czechoslovakia which was part of the Austrian Hungarian Empire up to 1919 and today Ukraine. This all came from a Czech source.

J. Hückel´s Söhne External Pape Size Tag. It was folded at the line and tab placed under the bottom of the Band / Ribbon.

There is only a tiny portion of the Paper Label left.

Vented Spacers were behind the rear of the Sweatband. Their installation most likely caused the missing Paper Label. Highly possible they were supplied to the shop by JHS.

Here are similar J. Hückel´s Söhne Carboard Boxes but from the early 1900s.

Some time ago I postet a lining-logo, which was barely recognizeable and we were not sure if this is a big letter M or three men standing side by side with legs apart and top hats. Now this is solved, because I found another one: They are three guys with top hats. And it does not resemble an M.

This one is a dark blue "velour" hat, size 56. I put the velour in quotation marks, because this is - I guess - a woolen fake velour, like it was advertised as "like velour" back in the days, but much cheaper. It looks and feels very soft, but it has a very unregular and short hair, and with that is not shiny.

With a large brim of 6,6 cm and a not very tall and vertical crown of just 9 cm it's not what I wear. But it was to cheap to not take it. And I really would like to know, what a logo this is. Especially because it seems to be a well known manufacturer, if the two appearances of the same producer/vendor shortly apart wasn't by pure coincidence.

There's nothing behind the grey, unreeded sweat band but a big stamped "D". Also nothing behind the liner, which is not fast and so can be removed. The Hat band is 2,1 cm.

It all seems to me pre war. What do you think?

I can't associate the logo with a Hat Company. Do you have a link to the similar Hat you mentioned?

I'm sorry, I can't find it. But I still have the picture of the liner. But not of the hat itself. Probably because I was not interestet in the hat. But that could have been the case just because of the size. I should have taken more pictures! unbekannte Hutmarke.jpg
