Steve, Thank you! I think it probably had a Tip Patch like the other one.Great overall look indeed, Steve.
Shame about the loss of liner, but still a wonderful looking Alois Pichler.

Panos, Thank you! Same here.Wow, Steve! Another great one! I have a soft spot for the old wool/wool-fur felts
There are probably similar examples. I would have to take a look through my website which is easier to navigate than here. The laurel is an interesting point. But, the Rote Adlerorden (Prussian) also shows the laurel in its claws: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roter_Adlerorden#/media/Datei:RoterAdlerOrden.jpg
On the other hand, the wings of the US-Eagle always point to the side or upwards here, if downwards only at the height of the head. So the mass of the wings is lifted. The Prussian and the Bora-Eagle point down, far below the head, the wing masses are at the bottom.
Here are two Federal Period eagles from my collection. With American Eagles there is not a real standard over the past 200 plus years, with older designs often brought out again for decorating. The laurel is an interesting point. Another wonderful find. I like the overall styling of this one.Alois Pichler Wien "Flexa", 55 cm, possibly late 1930s or a bit later. This could be a Fur - Wool mix. The Felt is very pliable and easily dry creases. Great overall look.
Open Crown
Stefan, Thank you!Another wonderful find. I like the overall styling of this one.
56 cm German 1930's mid-grey hat. Color is named "Sunda" (an Indonesian island).
Welted edge with unusual stitch-binding.
Made by "Stadion". Any more information available on this maker?
The paper label has a model number 2241. Might be 1941, but I rather think that the hat is older... ca. 1930-35.
Great condition and very sturdy but smooth felt.
Armin, Great find! It also has a fantastic look (really interesting / unique too). It's says Stadion is the Quality so doesn't appear to be a company mark. I will try to search through some of my information and see if there is any reference to Stadion or Sunda.
"Stadion" is a mark. Is there a paper label? Is it from a German source?I hope quoting a very old post works:
I have a top hat, that says "Stadion" as well. And as far as I can see the old pictures from that Fedora, "Stadion" is also printed on the sweat band. So maybe it really is some kind of brand. Judging the shape of this top hat, it's also 1930s.

Unfortunately not, this top hat doesn't even have a sweat band. The striped liner goes right down to the brim, where it's sewn. I bought it in Germany, yes."Stadion" is a mark. Is there a paper label? Is it from a German source?
Top Hats very rarely do have a label under the sweat band. Yours doesn't have a sweat because it's an opera hat. That is to say, it's collapsible.Unfortunately not, this top hat doesn't even have a sweat band. The striped liner goes right down to the brim, where it's sewn. I bought it in Germany, yes.
Steve, there won't be a paper label as there is no sweat band. It's a Gibus."Stadion" is a mark. Is there a paper label? Is it from a German source?
Of course! I don't have to be surprised! It couldn't collapse with a sweat band : DTop Hats very rarely do have a label under the sweat band. Yours doesn't have a sweat because it's an opera hat. That is to say, it's collapsible.
One moment, I have a collapsible top hat with a sweat band, but that's a post war and has a very small sweat band.Of course! I don't have to be surprised! It couldn't collapse with a sweat band : D
Can you post it?One moment, I have a collapsible top hat with a sweat band, but that's a post war and has a very small sweat band.
I know that it's a collapsible Top Hat.Steve, there won't be a paper label as there is no sweat band. It's a Gibus.
I've actually rarely seen a label under the sweat of a Topper.
Or let's say, I guess it's post war: lower crown and a small, black sweatband:

Can't see the mechanism that collapses it. Is it under the sweat?Or let's say, I guess it's post war: lower crown and a small, black sweatband:
