Mayser "Spezial", 58 cm, probably later 1930s. It's rare to come across a 1930s or older Mayser. The felt and form on this hat are fantastic.

I was able to verify that this store location did not survive WWII. The hat characteristics and paper label format will help in Mayser dating efforts.

Occasionally some hat resurfaces and arouses my curiosity

This for the felt, I have in various interpretations in French hats

Huber Air Exquisit size 59 centimeters

Sold by Paul Rhein - Saarlouis - Grosse Markt

This are the writing on the sweatband that is difficult to decipher because faded
The proportions are as follows: the brim is 6 cm. overwelt, the ribbon is 5 cm. and the open crown is 13.5 cm. cresed as telescope

Felt is often soft and quite rigid, perhaps because it has long been in need of a little steam, however the texture and the color are very similar to French felts that undoubtedly are softer

The hat is in good condition, it has no lining but just a tip as you can see

All indications are contained in the paper label which also shows the quality called "Mohair".
The finishes are very precise.

Aha ... I had my eye and bid on this one too. Nice to see it here again.

I don't go for wool-felt hats any more, but this Fraenkel looked nice enough.
The felt is thinner and lighter than usual wool-felt and I always love a bonded-edge.
According to the sweat imprint, I assume it was produced somewhere after 1958 into the 60s.

Great find! I think the dating is correct. My recent S.J. Fraenkel was date stamped 1959 and your hat appears to be from the same time period.

This little "Wildleder" Trilby in sage color has a nice and soft felt. I like the contrasting brim edge in dark green-brown.
Unfortunately no tags and the liner logo is too dark to see anything behind the blurry cellophane.
Probably from the 1960's.

Two great trilbies. Colour, ribbon, and bind match and contrast are very eye catching. Both look good on you. Nice finds.

Very nice light sand brown colour with dark constrating ribbon and binding combo. Suits you very well. Tag does indeed seem to be 80s looking.

Looks like a nice one, Georg. I like the colour combination. I tend to steer clear of these Stanton hats as they can be all over the place in quality, but that one looks like a fine hat.

Picked this one up yesterday. Wegener Super with Special Finish in mid to dark grey. Raw edge brim at 6cm and crown 10cm at the center dent. I'm not overly fond of Wegener hats, but they do and did produce some very fine hats. I liked the look and colour of this one. The colour is called Dahlem.

Looks great! I believe it was made by Tonak for F.W. Schneider Köln who own the Stanton mark (also Stetson Europe). I think the dating is correct.
