Another recent addition. I was going to leave it behind, since it's in black (again). But it's in great condition and the felt is to die for. Hückel Foulard in black. Size 59 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Not my size, but if you want a European hat of outstanding quality, you could do worse than this one. Pliable and a great hand.

First one for today (it's sunday already over here).
Echter Mayser Superbe in black. I have plenty of black hats and the black ones don't get much appreciation here, but this one was just too good to leave behind. Lovely shape and great hand to the felt. Size 56 with the brim a tad over 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Especially made for Hut Göbelhoff of Hannover, Germany. It's not often the quality designation is on the sweatband with Mayser hats. I come across hats for Göbelhoff quite often (but not of this quality). From what I found they existed from 1949 to 1978. This one is date stamped. I believe it says 17 mai 1958 (could be 1968, but the liner is stitched in, which was something Mayser stopped doing in the early sixties).

Stefan, Super! It's great that it has the date stamp. It's definitively later 1950s. I am not sure I have seen "Superbe" on the sweatband before. Also interesting to see the special Hut Göbelhoff paper label.

Picked this one up last friday.
Eres-Kent in grey. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Don't know anything about the brand, but both its shape and the felt, which has a great hand to it, spoke to me. I like the colour of it too, a bit understated. Maybe Steve knows more (well, he does, but about this brand I mean).
Hirmer is a store that's been around for a while: founded in 1914 they're still going strong today.

Stefan, Looks great! I will have to see if I can find anything on the Kent mark. I don't see any clues from the paper label. I will have to visit the Bad Homburg museum again because they have some German Hat Industry periodicals from the later 1950s into the 1970s that I need to photograph. Previous visits I concentrated on the earlier documents.

Mayser "Superbe" possibly mid 1950s. The felt is is very soft and the brim is less stiff so not like a typical Mayser Homburg.

Hückel Weilheim "Derby" possibly late 1950s. Great form and the felt finish is fantastic. Also near mint condition.

Borchert Berlin W. "Federleicht/Feather Light" possibly very early 1960s. The felt is light in weight with a very soft hand. This form and ribbon / bow work was popular in the late 1950s into the early 1960s. Based on the paper label format Borchert Berlin W. might have sourced this hat from Mayser.

Nice, I was waiting for this one to show up and am not surprised you were the lucky winner.
I won the other four Berlin hats from that seller :)

Picked this one up from Stefan. He was kind enough to let it go, though it pained him to do so.
A high crown, wonderful colour and finish. Fits like a glove.
Not a name I've come across before, but so glad it's now a part of my collection.
