This just in! Anton Peschel Dinkelsbuhl, my guess from the 1 3/4" brim is that it is 60's. The velour is wonderfully soft, the hat overall looks barely worn.

I couldn't see it well enough to be sure (bad eyes and all), but it's nicely done. I went and felt the edge (underwelt actually) carefully and I think I can feel a stitch line.

Hey everyone!
Some may have noticed that I have grown fond of velour. Especially green velour. So, when I saw this P&C Habig Wien on the Bay in a size 58 and cheap I had to jump on it.

2" brim, not sure if I'm keeping the bash the same. It is the largest 58 that I have tried, fits more like a 59. In great shape, minimal wear, nice sweatband.
Not sure of the age, but the felt is almost as nice and soft as my older German velours, while the nap seems just a bit shorter. Overall, quite a nice hat especially for $14.99 plus shipping! :)

Nice find! Someone probably bought it while on vacation. It was produced in 1974 so you can see P. & C. Habig Wien was still making high quality hats. They continued to do so until they went out of business in the late 1980s.

I have never come across anything that mentioned them making felt but they could have finished and dyed it. I don't have any production information on P. & C. Habig Wien. This is something I need to look into. My hunch is that were more focused on making very high end hats (at least in the 20th Century) and not a big operation that made both felt and hat.

Thanks mayser. I am curious mostly because the hand on this velour is similar to my Czech Peschel of close to the same vintage. The other materials and the craftsmanship of the P&C Habig Wien are superior to the Czech product.
Looking forward to any more info if there is more to be had. :)

Can any of you tell me anything about this tophat. Been looking online, but cant really find anything. It has a silky quality and is collapsable.

It's a Zylinder Klapphut / Collapsible Top Hat. I have ATEHA Clerical hat but couldn't find anything on the maker (H. C. & Co.?). Does yours have a paper label behind the sweatband.

I am certain they sourced the felt for this hat. My question is prior to WWII. Their production peak was around 1900.
