What's the etiquette regarding wearing colored detachable collars? Shouldn't the collar match one's shirt, if it isn't white?

I think that would certainly be the logic, but of course I wouldn't want to put someone off taking this one off my hands! I had wondered about using it on one of my blue shirts when the attached collar wore out, but I don't have quite the right shade for that.
