Over the years I have accumulated several pieces from the Russell Mocassin Co.I recommend a visit to their website;you'll find a pretty thorough article on leather care.

Mouton/beaver used on collars of original G1s etc is simply sheepskin that has had the GHD hair straighteners on it. Why not find an old 40-50s ladies coat cheap and chop it up for a nice collar with a bit of wear to it.
Cheers, J.
Here's one I destroyed earlier. A nice original 1950s full coat. left on a hanger by a window and untouched for at least 30 years so nice and sun faded on one side, just enough to make it un wearable for any fashion conscious 1940s vintage clothing enthusiast ;) £5er at a car boot sale.
You cannot tell from the picture but this ia a dead ringer for a G1 colour collar.
I see you are in the London UK, rather than London Ontario haha, I could send you a bit for the price of a decent beer if I can find the remains. PM me, sorry can't let you have any Ko Cho as I spread it on my toast ;)

Also, here is a link to a Wikipedia note on Neatsfoot oil https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neatsfoot_oil . I never knew you could use it to machine aluminium.
