LOL, no, he's referring to my G-1 I posted up and possibly being interested in selling it...Yes, super low for a USA made anything! And it looks pretty decent in the photos here.
I remember back in the late 70's early 80's I bought a G1 jacket surplus new never issued. It had a horrible dull medium brown finish with a dark brown fax fur collar and wools. It was stiff and wouldn't break in very uncomfortable to wear. I think it was pleather also. I remember reading a blog where during 70's 80's that the Navy thought the G1 was getting expensive and tried to cut costs, replacing leather for pleather before they briefly stopped issuing them. Maybe someone knows more about it.At least the price is right, and it can always be sent back. Good beater class jacket, if nothing else!
Probably cowhide, I picked one up recently from that period and soon moved it on. Horrible hide & service issue too.I remember back in the late 70's early 80's I bought a G1 jacket surplus new never issued. It was probably an Imperial. They had a G-1 Contract in the mid 1970’s and they are infamous for making one of the worst G-1 jackets ever. Apparently it was real cowhide, but with such a thick plasticky coating that one could be forgiven for thinking it was 100% plastic.I remember back in the late 70's early 80's I bought a G1 jacket surplus new never issued.
