I had a beat old Federation in grey that had become saggy, pilled and fuzzy. In looking into the Camptown sale I popped into COW and read about a method of relieving one's hat of fuzzies and tried it out. It worked!
You spray a bit of rubbing alcohol onto the hat. You apply a match. You let the alcohol burn off (and help the flame go out if it gets a little too enthusiastic). And voila... a smooth hat, no fuzzies and clean looking for the first time in years. It's stiffened up considerably too, so I've been able to fix the brim-sag.
Now I'm not trying this on anything but my beaters, but if anyone else wants to, or wants to comment, I'd like to hear about it.
PS: Unfortuantely I don't have a camera where I am, or I'd have documented this little endeavour - I just really didn't think it would work... next time I'll document.
