I'm from those parts (35 mi north) and I've heard that crease called the Fort Worth too. I figured it was a hat crease named after a period of severe drought in Fort Worth and there was no water for hat steamers. Every time I see one I want to grab it and head for the nearest Jiffy steamer.

Monbla, if you go to these type of events with any regularity, it would be interesting if you took along a digital camera and posted pics here. Sounds like a fun event.

The Stock Show happens once a year in January and I get to it about every two years or so. Lot's of rural youth compete as well as it is one of the big Rodeo's in the PRCA . For these reasons you get to see far more western hats, felts of course because of the time of year since most folks "dress up" for the occassion. I don't have a digital camera of my own as well but will be getting one later this year I hope. :) But it was neet to see so many felts at one time in one area for sure even if they were'nt Fedora's :)

Thought I'd chime in too--we call it the Fort Worth Crease down here in San Antonio, too. I think they call it that in Houston also--hard to recall through the fog of 20 plus years, but that's what we called the cattleman with front and rear dents when I was in high school in East Texas. Funny how the same crease can have a different name in other parts of the country. I saw on that chart there is even a different name for the tear drop cease--I think it was referred to as the Tycoon. But, to paraphrase Shakespeare...a crease by any other name is still as sweet!

That's a great window on your region, for an outsider like me.
