Up for grabs is my dark brown vintage 60s Bates Leather Mates- tagged 42, but it fits more like a 40-42.

Believe me when I say that if it wasn’t too big, I would never put it on the market.

Fit recommendation: I believe this jacket would be best for someone 5’10 and taller, with an athletic or slender body type as it is cut with a more modern slim fit. It is not intended to be a full-cut or baggy jacket.

Measurements (approx.):
Size 42
pit to pit: 21.75 in / 55.245 cm
shoulders: 18.5 in / 47 cm
back length: 28 in / 71.12 cm
sleeves: 25 in / 63.5 cm (straight line)... 27 in / 68.58 cm (along curve)
hem: 20.25 in / 51.44 cm

***Fair warning- once you allow yourself to indulge in one of these more luxurious collars, it’s hard to go back to some of the less satisfying smaller-collared
designs.

Thank you for the inquiries!

To answer one member:
The sleeve opening measures about 4.25 in. when zipped, and about 5.25 in. when unzipped.

I am tempted but i would need Dena to hack off about 3 inches of body length. Pocket placement and end of zipper are actually set up to have that done pretty easily. I was thinking of a cascade center zip w shirt style collar kinda like this.

Trimming 3 in. off would put you right at the bottom of the windflap. You would still have the zipperbox 1.5 in. up from the hem, and the pockets would be fine.
Not a bad idea.

A member asked me about any scratches on the jacket.
I looked it over, and there was a surface scratch near the right chest pocket.

I fixed it. :)

I never had a Bates before, but looking at the sleeves and body length ratio, this seems to be designed as a longer jacket? Just wondering.

It would fit me exactly like this:

I'm 178cm talk.

Btw, thanks for posting measurements in metrics as well.

It is a longer jacket, yes. Longer as in not belt-line long (or short). It will fit you very similar to the photo you posted. That's how my Bates in this similar style looked on me.
