A pair of 2017-2018 season pure black horsebutt engineer built in the 2050 last (Chelsea boot). Some may remember I posted it when they arrived last year. I worn them about ten time outside. For one personal preference I decided to let them go.

The horsehide is from Italy, very interesting leather, smooth, stiff, but once bent it stay wrinkled easily (only need a couple of wear to change shape, think a much stiffer CXL), they look like they’ve been worn for years but only a handful. Superb Viberg quality, thick sole, brass nails (won’t rust).

- 2050 last, a dressy, narrow last
- Channelled insole
-catspaw outsole
- exterior length 11.5”
- unstructured toe

Viberg size 8.5, about US men size 9.

Just noticed in the publicity shot, the side strap is like 1 inch long, but on mine, they are 3". i'll post another photo.

These are really nice.

What unstructured toe exactly means? The reason I’m asking is that these just look like any non-steel toe boot to me. I have a pair of clinch boots with soft toe and you can really tell the difference.

Unstrctureed toe means if you press down on the toe area, the only source of resistance is from the leather, there is no additional plastic-like "cup" underneath that maintains the shape of the toe over time. compare with structured toe, which has this thing called celastic box, a type of ping pong ball material, if you press down, it will bounce back. of course, steel toe is the most extreme, you can't press down at all. depends on the shape of the toe area, some unstructured shoe will be visible that there's nothing underneath, the leather just flattens. but in most cases, the shoe looks just like any non-steel toe shoe when new, and often takes a lot of wear and bending etc, for the toe box to show creases. These pair is pretty stiff and has a relatively pointy toe, so compared with a more round/dull toe shape such as the Whites semi or smoke jumper etc, this one will take a lot of wear to show.
