Star is made the way it is. These are short, exaggerated jackets you wear on a racing suit. You either love or it's not your thing. But this one makes a difference.

Made in true old Comp. weight. Full-grail, natural hide. The right stuff.

The jacket is in a pristine condition. Mint. Bought it for myself but it's too short. I need 40 or 42 which I intend to get.

Nope. Fits exactly like every Vanson's professional racer jacket which would be very true to size. I can wear this 38 but it's tight in the armholes & upper chest. 40 would be perfect for me (tight fit but preferable for this kinda jacket) but 42 would've worked as well.

You wear a 42 so that's what I'd stick to with this style since you definitely don't layer under this jacket. It's the one you wear over a wife-beater.

• Back length is 24" --Front 20" --Sleeves are 34.5 Nape of neck to Wrist.
• Bottom circumference sweep is 40.5 inches.

I guess they cut off an inch with every smaller size. . . My jacket is 21" back for sure.

Correct - I checked on a Size 46 one on ebay and it was only a 22.5" back length...comically short indeed.

For casual wear yeah but it looks perfect on motorcycle, high-waist leather pants.

They take some getting used to, gotta admit. But yeah, should I not be mistaken, the IH's you wear all have normal rise waist so the 42 will definitely look good on 'em, with an additional 2 inches of body length. I would go with 42 as well, even tho it'd be a bit wide but honestly, these jackets look better with a couple of cm's extra in width.

i got measurements, the si`e 42 has the same back length as your 38, maybe an older model.
Definitely too short for me...

You don't even know how good CHP or Bates looks with this belt installed. Like, people asking me about it.

Tho it's forfeit. I loaned it to a friend who couldn't figure out how to style a black dress and now she doesn't want to give it back anymore. Says it goes with everything and it actually does.
