This Canadian-made suit isn't old enough to be vintage but it's still a snappy suit in pristine condition. Problem is, it's too big for me and having it altered is a bigger job than I can afford. Anyone want it for $45 + postage (or a trade for something I can use?).

Jacket is sz 44R, trousers are 38 waist x 31 inseam. Trousers have a 1" cuff.

Nice Glen Check pattern, but unfortunately not my size either or I'd snap it up. I doubt it could be let out enough to fit me. But a very nice looking suit nonetheless.

jeez...my size! would rather be down to a 36W, but heck, I can still see my feet... gotta run this one past the local Fashion police (the Mrs.) .
Never seen a suit in my size for sale in all the years looking on eBay. Jackets, yes, but a suit, with the right inseam? hope I have a hat to compliment it.[huh]

2 inches is not a serious alteration to a trousers waist. A very simple job to take on to get a fabric like this at such a price!

Definitely an easy alteration. But for me to have it rebuilt to my size - a 40 with a 34 waist - would be absurd. What was I thinking?

What I was thinking was that I loved the fabric - lightweight and cool with a fine, smooth finish and seemed pretty resistant to wrinkling. I thought it would make a great summer suit. The other thing about it that nailed me was that my father had a suit in same pattern and color right down to the tiny red stripe when I was a kid back in the 40s.

At least now I know a lot more about what can be reasonably accomplished by alteration.
