Despite my love for this hat, i've had to come to the conclusion that no amount of padding behind the sweat will allow me to comfortably wear a hat 4 sizes too large.

It's in perfect condition. Its a rare hat to see because Lock and Co. only made it by special order, and even rarer in a lovely shade of brown. Very firm crown and construction.
