Here is an old Knox Boater in a rare size 7 1/2. I'm not an expert on boaters, but I'd guess it's from the 1920s or 1930s.
Dimensions:
3 1/2" Tall with Reverse Taper
2 1/4" Brim
2" Petersham Ribbon
Opening is 8 1/4" x 6 3/4"
When I got this hat it was quite dirty and coming apart, so I decided to try my hand at some hat restoration. I cleaned the hat, restored the brim to proper flatness, did some resewing on the sweatband where it had come loose, and replaced the ribbon.
This was my first try at restoration, so don't expect Optimo quality results, though I believe it did come out pretty nice.
The straw is a bit worn around the top side of the brim (unfortunately no amount of cleaning can change that), there are some stains on the liner. The sweatband is still soft and pliable, though it does have some discoloration from sweat around the front.
I'm asking $40 plus shipping.
