RARE! GORGEOUS EASTMAN 'AIR COMFORT' FLIGHT JACKET

Tagged 42. NOTE: The sleeves have been lengthened on this! Measurements:
Chest: 22 1/2
Modified Sleeve: 28 1/4 (shoulder to end of knit)
Original Sleeve: 25 3/4 (shoulder to end of original leather: 23; for then 2 3/4 knit).

DESCRIPTION FROM EASTMAN'S WEBSITE:
In the post war years of the late 40s/early 50s, American clothing manufacturers were not slow to take advantage of capitalising on the glamorous aviator image.
Hybrid versions of military style flight jackets started coming onto the market, which high street lingo soon dubbed as 'Bomber Jackets'; a general term used to describe a garment of this genre.
Famous manufacturers such as Sears and Montgomery Ward played a big part in this market; even some of the wartime contractors went on to make their own commercial versions of the Bomber Jacket.
Our offering is a design classic called The Air Comfort - a traditional brand name from that era.
We have used our amazing WarHorse® horsehide leather for this garment, which exudes a beautiful vintage character that only a high quality veg-tanned leather can. The rich colour and rugged texture capture the essence of this era.
The extra deep mouton fur collar, with reinforced trapunto stitching to the rear, ensures you keep a warm neck if the wind gets up. A mouton covered throat latch enables the sumptuous collar to be securely fastened when turned up, holding the fur close to the wearers neck and sealing out any cold drafts which threaten to chill.
Highest quality, brushed-cotton moleskin lines the hand-warmer pockets, and top quality rayon-satin quilt lines the body.
The two, deep, inside pockets allow ample and secure stowage for all your personal effects.
100% worsted wool is used for the cuffing and waistband trim.

This is a FANTASTIC example of an Eastman Air Comfort!
The most noticeable feature of this jacket is that the sleeves have been lengthened; I believe that this was done by Eastman, but since I'm not the original owner of this jacket I can't confirm this.
The jacket comes with its original garment bag from History Preservation Associates.
The Talon zipper works beautifully fluidly; the buttons that secure the throat latch open and closed are both very secure, leading me to think this was never used. The heavy cotton pocket bags of the two interior pockets are unblemished, so I suspect that these have never been used either. The two front pockets have no "gaping" but still sit flush with the jacket, so I doubt these were used!
The beautiful quilted scarlet liner has no rubs or frays. And it really IS beautiful!
The horsehide exterior of the jacket has some minor scuffs and blemishes from use, especially on the elbows, as shown, and a small blemish near the hem, as shown. There's also a very small mark on the front, as shown. All of these add character to the jacket, rather than detract from it!
There is some wonderful graining developing on the shoulders, as shown; these areas are also developing a lovely teacore patina. There is a very small rub on the under edge of the mouton throat latch, as shown, and some minor "fuzziness" to the inside neck area of the collar--but not the exterior.
This jacket is, overall, in Very Good/Excellent condition. Eastman currently charge around $1,600 plus shipping for the Air Comfort.
