FS, Bright Shoemakers Combat Boot in Chestnut Brown Pull up.

So these marked my first foray into the world of high-end boots after cutting my teeth with two pairs of RedWing Iron Rangers. They are a beautiful boot, the leather easily retains its shine and lustre, the fit is snug and comfortable, it is impeccably stitched, and pleasingly hefty.

They were worn sparingly over three months between March and June 2024 but since then have been gathering dust. This is because I discovered some of the Indonesian bootmakers and the customisation that comes with ordering from them appeals to me far more.

I am also selling these because the only area of the construction where it feels like Bright compromised quality is the soles and heel . Both are unbranded thin strips of rubber and, especially because I have an uneven heel strike, is just not suitable for me. I live in a small Australian city without a skilled cobbler. If I could get these resoled with Dr Sole or Vibram there is no question that these would be a dream pair of shoes, but to do that I’d need to ship them to a craftsperson in Indonesia or the US and that’s just not worth the hassle. Figured I’d let them go to someone who can enjoy and rebuild them.

I purchased them full price for 440 Euro (near abouts 500 USD).

Selling for $150 USD plus whatever shipping may be. Payment via PayPal as I live in Australia.

Hi I’m Kenan from Bright Shoemakers. I take part in developing and designing our boots.

Brand name soles doesn’t equal quality that’s a misconception. Dr. Sole and Vibram makes fantastic soles, but that doesn’t mean that they are better. It’s all about hype and marketing. We use both brands of soles for some of our boots and while they are very good, they aren’t necessarily better than the soles on your combat boots, just because they don‘t have a brand slapped on to them.

It’s the same with leather. People might claim Shinki or Horween to be the best tanneries in the world, when that‘s far from the truth. There are many tanneries out there making just as great leather qualities, but hasn’t hit the hype train yet.

Just my two cents :)

Hey Kenan,

Apologises, my intention was not to diminish the quality of your shoes (in fact, I believe I said quite the opposite). I am merely explaining my experiences for any future owner of these boots, and explaining why they are unsuitable for me and my disadvantageous heel strike. I have also had many pairs of shoes with both Dr Sole and Vibram soles, and these hold up to years of wear. I wore these boots perhaps 15-20 times, and the heel wear has become prohibitive to the point where I have little choice but to sell them. Not to diminish the very-high quality of your work, but merely to illustrate that these heels have evidently not stood up to the very simple metropolitan walking I have been subjecting them too.

I have the same issue with the heels on my boots, but it happens regardless of the sole used. It‘s especially bad with the Traction Tred soles on my Red Wings As an example.

Anyway, they are a lovely pair of boots and I hope the next owner will enjoy them. GLWS! :)
