FS: Aero Highwayman Connolly Steerhide, sz. 46

Aero Highwayman, made from black Connolly Steerhide, in a size 46.

$450

I bought the jacket thinking it's a lot smaller. Seller listed it as "medium size". I was excited to find an Aero jacket nearby and discovered it's a 46 only when it arrived.

Perfectly straightforward HWM, other than the fact that this one doesn't seem to have a hidden storm cuffs. Everything else is as per usual.

This Connolly hide is something else alright. Thick, perfect texture, perfect weight. Not too soft, not too pliable. Extremely tough wearing leather. The jacket is 30+ years old and look at it! Connolly obviously wasn't designed to show wear quickly and it's doing a damn fine job at it.

Condition is... I think the photos speak for themselves. Not one single unwanted mark of use anywhere on the jacket. Some faint creases and that's all. Even the AERO leather zipper tab is present!

What the photos are NOT showing and what you probably wouldn't have even noticed, are the two pin holes above the chest pocket. I tried to take a photo of it (last two photos) but they're hard to notice even on the close-up shot. If the guy I bought the jacket from didn't tell me about the pin holes, nobody would've been none the wiser.

But anyway, other than that, the jacket is as good as new.

Size 46 and the measurements are...
  • P2P: 26" / 66 cm
  • Shoulder width: 21" / 54 cm
  • Waist width: 23.5" / 60 cm
  • Sleeve length: 24.5" / 62 cm
  • Back length: 26" / 66 cm
Looking to get $450. Paypal, Friends and Family, please.
Shipping to the EU should be really cheap, about $10-15.
Overseas, depends. I never had to pay more than $50 for shipping to the US.

If you have ANY questions whatsoever or want to negotiate the price, don't hesitate to PM me right away.

Thank you for your time and on to the photos...

Stunning coat, just wish it would fit me. That said, I love the ads for Aero with different types of leather, it really helps one make a decision on what they would like before a purchase. The Connolly leather is incredible looking, the appearance alone provides a real reason for purchasing a leather garment. Good luck with the sale,
G.

I wish it fit me, as well. One of many HWM jackets in my neverending quest to find that perfect one... I would've settled with this leather right away but it's just too big for me.

On, and BTW, click on the photo for a full size view!

Yep, you're spot on, @Retromoto.
Got me thinking just today how of all the major makers out there, I'd say that Aero is the only company that actually never compromised.
I mean, they've been around for 40 years and they've been through many different types of leather from many tanneries but in all those years, they never once went for anything mediocre - or at least I never saw an Aero jacket made from a leather that was anything short of outstanding. Consistently finding and selecting these high quality leathers couldn't have been all that simple and regardless of the generic "steerhide" tag, everything I've seen from them so far is brilliant and collectible.

Might be worth mentioning; I have a size 42 from the same era (same hide), which fits just like a modern day size 42 jacket.
In the Highwayman model, it is commonly accepted that you need to downsize to get a neat fit. I guess 30 years ago that wasn’t the case.
Good luck with the sale, fairly confident it’ll go.

Nice Monitor: I have an early four pocket highwayman with a shorter length than a standard WWM in a trim-fitting size 44, fits true to size I purchased from Ken. I suspect it is Connolly steer hide. Your description of Connolly fits my jacket's leather. There no tag mentioning Connolly it's tagged like your jacket. You are right no noticeable indication of wear to the leather.

I don't know anything about the famed Connolly, but according to these photos, it's just like the leather used on my Bates T2!

@regius , @jonbuilder - Yep, this hide is quite different than any other high grade cowhide, even though that might not be obvious from the pics. I mean, from these photos, you'd probabyl say it doesn't look all that dissimilar to some of the stuff Vanson worked in but IRL, you can tell right away it's very different.

Just as long as you don't expect it to show patina and creases any time soon. :)
