Would you say the size is a true 7-5/8?

Yes I would. It is very loose on my 7 1/2 head that is why instead of trying to make it work I am just selling it.

Alas, I am a true 7-3/4, though sometimes a very loose 7-5/8 will fit. Hopefully it will do well in the auction...
