Frustrated at Aero prices increases

I know this is just yelling into the wind but I can’t help it.

I think a few years ago I was eyeing the Hooch Hauler with I think around £750 base price. So I started saving my money.

Looked now and it’s £930.

It’s just…frustrating. Salaries are stagnant. Living costs are increasingly unaffordable.

And with every passing day it seems that prices cannot hold still and these jackets move further and further away from being obtainable.

Buying used is the best option. Lower prices offered by SB, but folks have gripes. If you're shelling out close to 1k gbp and you're willing to throw caution to the wind, Thedi will make you something top-notch for 30-50% more.

Given the quality and the decades you get out of an Aero, their prices aren't that high, but price comparisons over time are always painful.

Aero uses two different price points: UK and Outside UK you have to choose from:

Hooch Hauler UK Price £930 and Outside UK Price £775

Unfortunately, this is only interesting for countries that do not charge customs duty and VAT on imports. The 20% VAT that Aero deducts when it goes outside the UK is added back on for me. Plus sometimes customs and handling fee DHL. This brings me back to at least the UK price.

In the top right corner of website you select your country , either UK which includes UK VAT or ROW where UK tax is removed, imagine you have selected UK showing higher price.

I feel your pain. The cost of entry leaves many answering a question "is it worth it?". I won't try to defend Aero's pricing, but I think I can understand price increases. Since the pandemic, so many issues have arisen. Supply chain shortages, cost of shipping materials and cost of labor are just a few. Coupled with that has been so many folks leaving the work force. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to attract, train and retain skilled leather workers.

It sounds like the Aero Brand is doing well in spite of the many issues and doing their best to provide great jackets. Best of luck to you in getting the jacket you are after.

Being based in the UK I may be able to give a sort of reason why....

Electricity and Gas prices through the roof,
Interest rates on the way up,
Wages on the way up,
Import costs and purchasing costs for all materials ranging from leather to cotton.

In effect all costs will have risen, only commenting on the UK as have no idea of interest rates or energy costs in other countries.

Personally I still feel they're good value.

This was frustrating: last night I was playing around with customising, planning to commission one soon and as I was doing so, the prices suddenly jumped up. Now I won’t…

Check the country flag in top right corner of the page as per Hide n Seek's post above.

I think this is a error in the website. When you enter as rest of the world, you see the prices without UK VAT. As soon as you configure something, it switches to the UK prices. Simply switch back again at the top right.

Edit: too late ;)

Thanks for the messages. I was living in the UK before the price jump, have been visiting the US since before the increase, and was looking with ROW price thinking I was still looking at the UK price. Thought this was an additional jump in price. Maybe I should buy in the US after all, still bad news either way

If you are in the USA, Thurston Brothers is the way to go. Seamless relationship with Aero and they are first rate folks.
