I have some neat fruit-motif items--a 1950s dress with a orange and yellow pair print, a pair of 1930s tap pants embroidered with cherries, and a 1950s dress embroidered in orange and green grapes. Of course, fruit jewelry is a real passion of mine. My absolute favorite piece is a 1930s brooch made of Venetian glass oranges; I have 1950s orange blossom earrings to match. I also have a collection of 1940s cherry brooches (Bakelite and lacquered wood), a cherry necklace, a 1930s brass grape cluster brooch, and Carmen Miranda-esque fruit shoe clips. :)

And I also have a thing for marzipan fruit. :D

Hehe.. it's so fun! I went to school with a girl who's nickname was Squee!

JBD, I'm going to have to start hunting around for more fruit jewels. Your collection sounds wonderful! I bet those tap pants are TOO cute!

Small Town Girl, please post a pic of your fabric and pattern you plan to use, if you can!

Hm, I suppose plums would be hard to find, and darn cute if you can!!

Why 'sank ya Pink Dahlia! It had a big ol' self portrait mirror flash, so I tried to go with that and make the pic look older and faded, lol!

You know, the girls brought in some frozen cocktails to work this week, I want to say they called em key lime pies. The glasses were edged in graham cracker crumbs. Yum. This isn't the recipe they used because I swear it had milnot or cream in it.. I'll have to ask them tomorrow!

Nikki, those sound heavenly!I will post a picture and you girls can perhaps help me with a few ideas for a pattern? I originally thought of something 50's.
I thought that a square piped neckline and full skirt may look pretty.I'd love to get some ideas though.
JBD, I love fruit jewelry too!! Where did you find the shoe clips?

I have a repro petticoat-dress with cuuute strawberries adnd eventhough I don´t really fit in it anymore I can´t bring myself to sell it and I have a beautifull wrap-top with cherries. I love fruit-prints, but I rarely stumble over them. But.... I might get me some fabric with fruit print cause the beautifull ladies with the beautifull photos over here and the beautifull clothes and acessoires really convinced me that I BADLY need more clothes with fruits!!! (And I´m a person that usually goes with bold colours... see what a influence this forum has on me:)

I wish I had a photo of this. I will have to take one and post it. I found a linen or maybe gaberdine skirt last week that has two front pockets that have straw type fruit bunches in them. It is just the cutest thing. It was to small but I think I can let out the sides enough to make it fit my amble bottom half. Curse of the tiny vintaeg lady strikes again!

I actually found them at an antique store, and I just couldn't resist them. :)

As for posting photos, upload your pictures to a site like Photobucket first, and then post the link surrounded by IMG tags.

The shoes that ohairas is wearing look like a pair I used to have made by Two Lips. And speaking of adorable shoes and fruit, what do you ladies think of these? I don't care for the heel, but the rest of the shoe is adorable. ;)

JBD those shoes are SO cute.. you're right about the heel. Are those your shoe clips or the actual shoes? I think I'll have to make me some clips to wear!!

The fruit bunches are actually a part of those shoes (from www.mybabyjo.com), but my shoe clips look very similar. A few months ago, someone was selling the most adorable wedges that were quite similar to the heels I just posted (woven fabric in tan with kelly green, navy blue, or red trim and bunches of fruit on the toe) and dead ringers for 1940s shoes. I wish I had bought a pair. What was I thinking? lol

Here is a photo showing the shoe clips, along with some of my other fruit jewelry:

Your shoes look exactly like the pair I mentioned above, with the exception that mine were smooth leather. How funny! :)

JBD, that explains why the pictures wouldn't work:eek: I feel so silly! I must have tried so many different ways and finally just yielded to the fact that I must be computer illiterate:rolleyes: Are the fruit shoes form pinupgirlclothing? They look really familiar.I would prefer a different heel, too.I love the fruit variety here. You gals have some really extraordinary treausres! Thank you for sharing!

Jitterbug Doll. I love those shoes.

I went to Target today to look at Easter dresses for my grandbabies and they had a cherry dress for young girls about 7-12 sizes with material pattern just almost like the first dress in this thread.
