Hello Everyone,
Searched all over, but cannot remember or find the modern french menswear designer that has a 30's inspired line including pieces such as suits and shoes.

Thank you to anyone who can help me out.

-MS

*EDIT* Popped into my head less than 5 minutes after I posted this... Its Marc Guyot.

Nice suits but the shoes are terrible. Way to pointy for me.:eusa_doh:
Also the 'pantalons' are to narrow. Maybe his only achievement are the nice lapels and the fabrics.

Wide pants are distinctly out of favor right now. He has to make some concessions to current tastes if he wants anybody to sell his clothes.

"30s inspired" usually means a nod to the movies anyway. Here we're more interested in what the man of taste actually wore, which makes us very unusual. For most people, including most stylish people, that's completely irrelevant.

I say the "uninformed-ness" is by design.

Sophistication - hip, if you will - is a funny thing. It's basically about knowing, but you have to walk a line. If you know too much, you become a specialist. You can easily become stale and one-dimensional, which makes you not very much fun to hang with.

you'd need to be pretty confident to wear some of his stuff, i'll say that.

I really like this, especially the neck scarf. With a normal shirt, this would be a great summer look. Only €700!

I'd wear it happily...although, with a couple of place-exceptions, not in the provinces.

You'd need an incredibly beautiful woman on your arm to pull off that look. :p

Hmm, I like a lot of his stuff. Unique, no doubt and confidence a requirement for much of his things. But 700 Euros isn't too bad, especially considering the bland and crap quality out there for more. His summer, linen and tweed suits look great.

And I don't mind his shoes too much, definite vintage inspiration to much of his work. I could definitely go for some of those spectators and boots.

Thumbs up for being different.

edit: the lime green shoes in this collection (scroll to the right) make me drool as well as the burnt brown ones further right:

It's not a great lapel treatment, but the fabrics are nice.

Yes, i do like those green shoes. Very nice!

Agreed, the lapels look like something out of the '70s though some look '20s-ish to my eyes.

Its just stunning !

Stunning, all of it, simply stunning.

Granted the shoes are a bit pointed, but you can't beat his color combos or the eyelet treatments.

The suits are just enough for even me to drool over....silk piping on Holland & Sherry Gray flannel & covered buttons, for €900 Wow!

And if you question the pink, then don't even look at it....it just oozes a day at the track...... mint julep anyone?

The linen suit with the piping......the pocket alone is worth admission.

The red seersucker.... so beyond the normal blah blue.

The tweed jacket with the great slant to the pockets, not to mention the piped and flapped breast pocket.

And don't you just want a "Cricket Blazer"...just to say you have one.... I do !

This guy has great taste and is def producing distinguished looks. He has given me ideas for myself and clients for the rest of summer and into fall.
